Close Reading of Text
- Basically, new criticism is a literary movement in which we do a close reading of a text.
Close reading involves to the careful attention details of a text: its diction, syntax, patterns of imagery and metaphor, etc.In new-criticism, close reading ist he careful, attentive and sustained interpretation of a text. When we are applying new criticism theory, we read content and form of a text without knowing about its author and historical context. We have to analyze a text without emotional or sentimental interference, just on the basis of facts.Form is important, the writer has no. importance.
